Established in 1965… The Chicago FM Club (CFMC) boasts a roster of over 150 members strong, from all over the Chicagoland area and beyond. With a vast array of coverage from our Five area Repeaters, we are much more than a “Repeater Club”. CFMC is proud to host one of Chicagoland’s biggest and best Ham Fests… Radio Expo; Held in September each year, check our Calendar for details. CFMC Members enjoy a comradery both On-Air and IRL. Chicago Marathon, October 11th

The marathon this year is on Sunday, October 11. We draw on the ham community from many states, not just Illinois. Most people work as small radio team with 4 or 5people — and many of those are teams supported by a single club (Thank you Club supporters). Those positions represent about 70% of our volunteers. Other hams work in specialized areas like Pre-finish, or roaming triage or other task related groups. We work as communicators, not as medical volunteers. Monthly Club Meeting – November 18, 2026

Winter Field Day Weekend 2027

Winter Field Day 2027 is the weekend of January 22th and 24th 2027, and is held at Camp Reinberg in Palatine, IL. According to the Winter Field Day Association, Winter Field Day, “…aims to help participants improve their preparedness for disasters and enhance their operational abilities in adverse conditions” and ” to encourage a diverse range of activities, including the use of non-commercial power sources, the deployment of multiple antennas, establishing satellite contacts, and more.” CFMC members and guests certainly checked the “…adverse conditions…” box last winter.
