For CFMC, James (Jim) was very helpful as a net controller for the Saturday night 220MHz net
He volunteered his time also with CFMC as a net controller on the Tuesday 9PM CMFC information net.

James Liston, Chicago police officer and ham radio operator, dies at 61.

When he was a little boy growing up on the South Side, James Liston was by a radio, operating his own ham station when he was just 11 years old.Though he would have a distinguished 30-year career as a Chicago police officer, he maintained his passion for ham radio until his death at 61 on Dec. 3 after a long illness. The day before he died, he was honored as “Hamfester of the Year” by one of the eight radio clubs of which he was a member.

“Jimmy was a unique person,” said his sister, Jayme Fraser. “A Chicago original.”Born on Oct. 24, 1955, Liston was one of the three children of Wilbert and Dolores Liston, he a manager for a chemical company and she a stay-at-home mom.

Surrounded by his loving family he received his final orders to report to his Heavenly Home on December 3, 2016.
