International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend

We plan to be at the Grosse Point Lighthouse on Sunday, August 17 from 11 AM till about 2 PM.
There is pay parking ($2/hour) in the small lighthouse parking lot. Parking on the side streets is free on Sunday. Check the signage.
The lighthouse is seven blocks east of the Central St Purple Line station. Pedestrian friendly.
We will operate Phone, FT-8, and CW. We will be using the callsign W9C.
The ILLW usually takes place on the 3rd full weekend in August each year and attracts over 500 lighthouse entries located in over 40 countries. It is one of the most popular international amateur radio events in existence probably because there are very few rules and it is not the usual contest type event.

The objective is to promote public awareness of ham radio and lighthouses; to contribute to the recognition that lighthouses, lightships, and their keepers deserve; to foster camaraderie within the ham fraternity; and to provide fellowship among the members of the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society.
