From the American Radio Relay League, ARRL, “Every June more than 40,000 amateur radio operators, (hams), throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation.”
“It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event.”
“ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June of each year, more than 40,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.”

Our 2023 CFMC Field Day info:
The CFMC’s Summer Field Day will be held on June 23th thru 25th at Camp Reinberg in Palatine, IL.
Everyone is welcome. Come see what ham radio is all about, especially some of the new digital modes of world-wide radio communication. There will also be testing for FCC amateur radio licenses.vPlease contact Vern at k9vrt@att.net or at (773) 777-2802 to get on the list.
You must have registered with the FCC to obtain an FCC Registration Number, FRN, in order to take the test. Federal agencies used to use your Social Security number as your identifier…that is happily a thing of the past.
